I do like the idea of being able to change the tune on the fly, just in case while I am towing and my EGTs are getting too high, I can just change the tune while driving. Is the CTS and SCT TS Livewire only a programmer and therefore can not be used to change tunes on the fly? Now if I decide if you guys convince me the Superchips tune is bad, and since I like the CTS, is there a place that can custom tune a CTS evolution? I have read the SCT TS Livewire is a re-branded CTS with different firmware and can have custom tunes but these are generally not recommended for the 7.3L. What makes the Superchips tune bad? What am I missing out if I keep the Superchips tune and just get a CTS versus getting a multi-tune chip? I have not tried the other towing and economy tunes with the Superchips. The transmission feels like it shifts firm and when the torque converter locks up, it is very firm (almost with a bang).

Power felt good to me for a truck (now my Mustang is a different story) as I am used to a restored 79 F150 4X4 with a 400 engine that can't get out of its own way while getting 10MPG empty and 7MPG while towing the 7K Lb car trailer while going over mountain passes at 30MPH. I just drove the truck empty on a 400 mile trip and averaged 19.3MPG for the whole trip (including city driving) and was getting 21-22MPG on the Freeway averaging 65MPH. But I haven't read anything that states why the Superchips tune is bad. I want to add an Edge CTS (as I do not want to add gauges) to monitor EGT, Auto Transmission temperature, boost while towing a 7K Lb car trailer.įor all the reading I have done, everyone states to get a custom tune from places like PHP, TW or DP, and tunes that come with a Superchips, Edge, and etc are not good. I am not planning on heavy modding the truck (I have a turbo charged 94 Mustang for my modding addiction).

Stock with a 4" exhaust and programmed with the performance tune from a Superchips Flashpaq 1805. I just purchased a 2001 F250 7.3L PowerStroke, 116k miles.
